well she kissed me one afternoon
the sun was shining but on the other side
of the street
and i felt euphoric
as if i were sailing up to the rooftops
and peering down at the silly girls below

and as i stumbled down the stairs
and down the block
my body was abuzz with happiness
and the subway was rattling our rhumba
and some strange man undressed me with his eyes

and as i sat back on my couch,
the tv droned nonsensically,
