with these creatures
who want to be near me
but not with me

is becoming a thing

because you need me
but don't want me
and it could be anybody

but it's me
the patron saint of hopeless causes
desperate situations
and scrambling to make sure
you have enough to eat
and you have shoes on yr feet
and your esophagus doesn't collapse
and your heart doesn't leak

i live for the moments
you wait for me
you look to me
and quietly acknowledge
that need
anthropomorphized
as it may be
